Contact: Kathy Johnson FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Growing Entrepreneurs in Rural Communities Event on May 18 Who: The Southeastern Industrial Development Association in partnership with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and McMinn CountyWhat: Entrepreneurial Gardening Resource Rally: Growing Entrepreneurs in Rural Communities When: Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Where: McMinn County Courthouse Annex 5 South Hill St Athens, TN 37303 Why: Learn how strategically approach economic development through local and regional resources this Wednesday, May 18 at the Courthouse Annex in Athens. From 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., anyone interested in entrepreneurship and expanding his or her economic development toolbox is invited to attend. This is also a good opportunity for local officials in McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Polk and Rhea counties to learn more about the resources available in their communities. The Resource Rally will feature "Seeds to Sprouts to Harvest," a panel of entrepreneurs on how they started their businesses, challenges they faced and what made them successful. The keynote address will be given by Mark Long, President of Long Performance Advisors, LLC. During lunch, Dr. Michael Wilcox from the University of Tennessee will share best practices of how local leaders can be involved in "Fertilizing the Seeds" of entrepreneurship. To close the day, a panel of traditional and non-traditional financial lenders will discuss potential ways of "Watering the Gardens."
