Contact: Kathy Johnson Southeast Industrial Development Association FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Entrepreneurial Gardening Resource Rally: Growing Entrepreneurs in Rural Communities The Southeast Industrial Development Association in partnership with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and McMinn County offer resources to help entrepreneurs grow. Athens, TN, May 18, 2011: Join us for a strategic approach to economic development that is locally empowered and regionally supported. The event will take place at the Courthouse Annex in Athens, Tennessee beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. All those interested in entrepreneurship and expanding their economic development toolbox are encouraged to attend. Entrepreneurs within the region are invited to exhibit their products and/or services as well as to take advantage of the available resources that will be on-hand to discuss individual business opportunities.The keynote address "Growing Entrepreneurs in Rural Communities" will be given by Mark Long, President of Long Performance Advisors, LLC. Participants will hear about "Seeds to Sprouts to Harvest" from a panel of entrepreneurs on how their business began, some challenges they faced and what made them successful. During lunch, Dr. Michael Wilcox with the University of Tennessee will share some best practices of how local leaders can be involved in "Fertilizing the Seeds" of entrepreneurship within their community. To "round-up" the day, a panel of traditional and non-traditional financial lenders will discuss potential ways of "Watering the Gardens".
